L&B Electronics Installs Siren in Linn Creek

October 2, 2006

On September 15, 2006 L&B Electronics installed a new storm warning siren in Linn Creek, Missouri. The set up also included a back up battery system in case of power failure.

"The city has had to depend on on local police officers to cruise the city in their cars and use certain tones on the vehicle's siren to warn residents of impending weather.

Many residents are not familiar with the police tones and are unaware of their meaning.

When the area was hit by tornado warnings earlier this year, the nearby city of Camdenton had to sound their sirens a number of times."  writes Dale Johnson of The Reporter.

The type of siren that was installed was an American Signal T-121. The Tempest™ series of Emergency Alerting products are used for the notification of the public or employees during severe weather situations, Hazardous Material Incidents, Wild Fires, and other disaster scenarios.

"The city plans on adding two more sirens in the future if grant money can be obtained.

The city will apply for a grant in November of 2006 to pay for the second siren. If the grant is approved, the second siren will be located in the industrial park." writes Dale Johnson of The Reporter.
